Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid for £42m this winter Transfers

England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season. At the moment, negotiations are thought to be ongoing with the club, but Real Madrid are also looking at the chance to sign him without a transfer fee.

The right-back, who was vice-captain at Anfield and a future captain candidate, has developed from a promising youngster into a world-class side-back under Jurgen Klopp. He is a firm regular in the new Arne Slot regime and continues to set up attacks from the back with his right-footed passes.

An integral part of Liverpool and a symbol of the club, it is no surprise that the 26-year-old defender wants to stay, but reports are circulating from Spanish quarters that he is on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu, this time with news that the Reds are beginning to give up on the player.

According to Defensa Central, Liverpool are prepared to accept a £42 million transfer fee to sell Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid in this winter transfer window.

Realistically, a £42 million sale for a player with six months until his contract expires would be a great financial solution. However, if the Dutchman’s commanders are willing to let go of a valuable asset, they have to be prepared to do so, and a replacement has to be secured.

Even in the unlikely event of a free transfer, most believe that he will remain at Anfield until this summer. In the first place, they will fight until the last minute, with the expectation that they will be able to work out the terms and conditions to sign a new contract until the real last minute.

What will be the outcome of Alexander-Arnold’s departure, with all sorts of speculation stirring…?
