After a disappointing spell at Chelsea, Egyptian international Mohamed Salah quickly became a world-class player at Liverpool after a stint in Italy. He has scored and assisted a huge amount of goals from the right wing and has not given up his ace position in the new Arne Slott regime.

At 32, he may have lost some of the speed and sharpness of his prime, but he is still one of the Premier League’s best attackers and chance-makers, and has reached 10 goals and 10 assists in 17 games across all competitions.

Former England defender Glen Johnson, who played for Liverpool during his playing days, praised Egyptian King’s performances and attitude as he continues to deliver results on the pitch despite the speculation surrounding a contract extension.

“Credit to Mo Salah. There’s a lot of speculation about him, but as a proper pro, he’s getting his head down and still performing. We’ve seen many players think they’re not getting a new deal and sulk, chuck their toys out of their pram. It’s good that he hasn’t done that.”

“He’s still a world-class player, isn’t he? If you lose him, he’s almost impossible to replace and you certainly wouldn’t want to be the player trying to replace him, that’s for sure. Hopefully they can get a deal done. I know he’s getting older, but he’s still putting in these performances and there are still not many better than him around at the moment.”

The 32-year-old right winger is waiting with big money ready and waiting for the Saudi Arabian club, but the player himself is believed to still want to compete at the top level and is reportedly open to staying at Anfield.

No information has leaked out about what discussions are being held with Liverpool. Will the two sides be able to come to terms and sign a new contract, or will he leave Anfield at the end of the season…?
