‘I’m focused here on Liverpool’ Darwin Nunez, who scored the opener against Aston Villa, talks about what's ahead Team

Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez struggled with Premier League intensity in his first season at Liverpool, but his performances improved significantly last season and he enjoyed an impressive season with 18 goals and 13 assists in 54 games.

With the appointment of Arne Slot, the work required of the centre-forward has changed. Although Portuguese international Diogo Jota is ahead of him in the pecking order, he has improved his reputation during the period he has been out injured and scored the first goal against Aston Villa in the last game from a fast counter.

He is less ferocious in his approach to goal due to his change of role, but his post play and coordination with others has improved. In a fluid attack, he has shown himself to get into the penalty area while making the most of his wingers and midfielders on either side.

Although his goal tally is expected to increase as he becomes more familiar with the Dutch coach’s style of play, the 25-year-old striker has made it clear that he is satisfied with his current situation and reiterated his determination to continue working hard every day to achieve his initial goal.

“At this moment, I feel happy to have minutes, happy to score another goal for Liverpool,”

“I think we did a good job defensively, and attacking I think we were good too. I feel happy, as I said – happy for the team that we have been doing things well and that is showing when we play.”

“We have to continue working, with our feet on the ground. We haven’t won anything yet and there’s a lot left to do.”

“As I always say, I’m focused here on Liverpool, we don’t look outwards,”

“We have to continue working with our feet on the ground.”

“And hopefully in the end of the season [we can reach] the goal and we can celebrate it with the people, so that they are the ones who have to celebrate with us the most.”
