A product of Liverpool’s academy, he has been involved in a number of first-team games under former manager Jurgen Klopp. In recent years he has been a regular contender and last season he scored five goals and provided three assists in 36 games throughout the Premier League and Europa League.
With the arrival of manager Arne Slot this season, the composition of the midfield and the roles required of him have changed. He has been useful as an attacking or defensive midfielder and has been on the pitch in 13 games so far. He is in a period of awakening, having led his team to victory against Chelsea with one goal and one assist.
The 23-year-old English midfielder, who is also at a turning point in his life with the birth of his child, revealed that he is having the most fun throughout his career and said that the new style of play introduced by the Dutch coach suits his abilities as well.
“I feel that I’m at the point now where I’m enjoying it the most that I have. I say that in terms of style of play that suits me and the love that I’m getting from the coaches and the staff all around,”
“Arne and his staff have come in and the style of play and everything is changing – the way we go and press and stuff. I think it suits me more. As a fresh start, I’ll give it everything I can.”
“I’m really enjoying it and the most important thing is that I’m playing with a smile on my face.”
“I will approach the game trying to prove to everybody that I’m the player that they say I am, and the player that I’ve always been since I was a kid,”

He has played a key role for Liverpool, who are top of the Premier League table and have won all their Champions League games, and is expected to continue to be a mainstay of the team.
Hopefully, he will be as good as Trent Alexander-Arnold, who also grew up in the academy.
