With Andy Robertson entering his 30s, it may be difficult for the athletic side-back to remain at the forefront in the long term.
A change in style of play could keep him on the pitch for a long time, but with reserve Kostas Tsimikas also turning 28, the time to look at a generational change is approaching.
Liverpool are interested in 21-year-old Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, who has proven himself in the Premier League, even if he is not in a priority position to move in the transfer market this winter or next summer, and have asked his club for permission to hold preliminary talks, international media outlet Anfield Watch reported.
The player was acquired by Richard Hughes, who became Liverpool’s sporting director this season and has a deep understanding of the player’s attributes.
Prior to joining Bournemouth, he is believed to have tried to acquire the player in the summer of 2023, but was unsuccessful on that occasion, partly due to the player’s history of demanding regular treatment.
The left-back, who has already made 21 appearances for Hungary, is happy with his current club but would like to move to a top club if given the chance. He also mentions his good relationship with Hungary captain Dominik Szoboszlai, who is also at Liverpool.
Manchester United also wanted to sign him this summer, but the £40 million demanded by Bournemouth was out of reach. He has been a regular starter since the start of the Premier League season, has provided two assists and is now an integral part of the club.
Liverpool are reportedly not keen on acquiring a left-back in the first place, but will they make a serious move for the young Hungarian defender in the coming transfer window?
