With Virgil van Dijk turning 34 next year, Liverpool’s search for a successor is in full swing. There were rumours of securing a new centre-back this summer, but as a result there was no reinforcement in the defensive ranks, but reports have continued to circulate since the transfer market closed.
A left-handed centre-back who could also handle left-back was said to be a priority, but he may settle for a right-handed centre-back. According to Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, Liverpool have agreed a €25 million deal with Sevilla for 24-year-old French defender Loic Bade.
The Spanish club had demanded €30 million, but eventually agreed to release him for a fee €5 million cheaper. If nothing happens until next January, the Sevilla defender will move to Anfield. It is reported that Aston Villa were also interested.
Although he has no history with the French national team, he played for France U-23s at the Olympics in his home country this summer. He started five of the six games for the team that reached the finals and could make his full national team debut at any moment.
After developing his skills in France, including Reims and Rennes, he chose to play in La Liga in July 2023. He has earned a place in the starting line-up this season and has continued to support the team from the final line, although he has not played recently due to a muscular problem.
Will the reports turn out to be true, or will the rumours end up being rumours?
