Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, along with manager Arne Slot, are being considered within the club, scouting various young players to build a team for the next era of Liverpool.
A wide variety of names, both realistic and unrealistic, continue to surface in the media. According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation of long-standing interest in France U-23 international Désiré Doué. It added that the club’s scouts rate him highly.
He was a mainstay at Stade Rennes until last season, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists in 76 games as a teenager. He has become a promising prospect in France and joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window for a fee of €50 million.
He has made 12 appearances for the team without French international Kylian Mbappe, but has not played much time, mostly in the middle of the park. In his first year with the club, he is in the phase of gaining the trust of the coach, so he is in no rush.
The 19-year-old attacker has a long-term contract with PSG until 2029, so it is no surprise that an exorbitant transfer fee is being demanded. He has dribble penetration as his greatest strength, and can also break through to create pathways with fine technique, even when he is disadvantaged by numbers.
The young winger, whose style of play is somewhat similar to Kingsley Coman’s, may only be one of the names on the shortlist, with no mention of whether Liverpool will make a move for him.
So, with the 19-year-old winger struggling for playing time at the French champions, does he have a future with a different team, looking for more opportunities on the pitch…?
