England defender Levi Colwill was reportedly the subject of interest from Liverpool before signing a long-term contract until June 2029 last summer. He is a promising defender who can perform at a high level as a centre-back and left-back.
The young centre-back, who is also skilled with his feet and, combined with the rarity of his left foot being his dominant foot, was considered to be the successor to Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, ‘When was the first time you played against a player you admired?’ asked, he named the Liverpool defender and spoke candidly about what happened last season.
“Probably when we played Liverpool last season. I played against Virg for the first time and I remember marking him in the box.”
“He said something to me, and I said ‘shut up’ accidentally or something like that and he just looked at me like ‘who is this little boy?’ and I was like ‘ah, I’ve disrespected him’.”
“It is what it is. My bad, you just look at him and think I want to be like that or better when I’m older if I could,”

The 33-year-old veteran centre-back moved to Anfield after spells at Celtic and Southampton.
He has won the Premier League and Champions League and reigns as one of the best defenders in the world in both name and reality, and many other players besides Colwill will be aiming to get there.
Although Colwill is no longer in the world line to move to Liverpool, the direct confrontations that are likely to take place in the future at Stamford Bridge and Anfield will be closely watched.
