Italian international Federico Chiesa was looking for a new club in the summer transfer window after being left out of the Juventus squad. Barcelona and other clubs were among the candidates, but as the deadline loomed, a move to Liverpool was agreed.
The 27-year-old winger, who has been in poor condition without a proper pre-season, has continued to adjust at Anfield. He has played less than 100 minutes this season and has so far failed to show as much as had been expected.
The former Fiorentina forward has been the subject of rumours of a return to Italy, with reports suggesting that Inter Milan are targeting him, but Napoli have the player on their list in case Georgia international Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is attracting interest from mega clubs, leaves the club, Italian outlet La Repubblica reported.
He has continued to revitalise the left flank since joining Napoli from Dinamo Batumi. Although he hasn’t made the same impact as in his first season with the club, he has been a regular this season and after 16 games he has five goals and three assists to his name, helping the team to a good run of form.
The Italian winger has been plagued by a string of injuries since his time at Juventus, but has no plans to leave England right now. Liverpool are also unlikely to limit themselves to just six months, and if there is a possibility, it will be in the transfer market next summer.
Will Chiesa stay in condition to compete for a starting place on Merseyside and succeed in the Premier League…or will he return to his homeland and a future in Serie A…?
