Harvey Elliott, a 21-year-old midfielder, was recognised as a talent by manager Jurgen Klopp and continued to accompany him in the first team immediately after joining Liverpool from Fulham.
He developed dramatically at Blackburn, moving from right winger to midfielder as his primary position.
He was expected to compete regularly with Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai this season, but injury prevented him from getting off to a good start.
He returned at the end of last year but has failed to win the trust of manager Arne Slot and has played just 147 minutes so far.
The England U-21 midfielder has struggled to secure a place in the squad, but may leave Anfield.
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas suggested that Brighton and Borussia Dortmund are keeping an eye on the player’s current situation and could make a move in the transfer market this winter or this summer.
“Brighton + Borussia Dortmund among the clubs keeping tabs on Harvey Elliot, with his lack of minutes under Arne Slot alerting Premier League and Bundesliga clubs to monitor his future over next two transfer windows.”

As well as being a left or right winger, he has the dexterity of an attacking midfielder, and his chance-making is one of his specialities, as he can be mesmerising in the opposition penalty area.
He is also a defensive-minded player and works perfectly well with right-backs and right wingers.
However, the Dutch coach prefers to use the more athletic Szoboszlai and England midfielder Curtis Jones.
Most recently, Jones started against Manchester United but failed to make much of an impact, but the 23-year-old midfielder went straight into the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham and did not start on the pitch until the end of the game.
Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo also played well, but was never given a chance. Elliott is not a terrible performer either, and sometimes shows flashes of brilliance in short spells, but it is hard to believe that he is not used except because he is the manager’s preference.
Liverpool are slowly shedding the Klopp regime, but will the 21-year-old midfielder leave Anfield to be replaced by a player of Slot’s choice…?
