Italian international Federico Chiesa left Juventus for Liverpool last summer.

He had a less than satisfactory pre-season and struggled to adjust to the conditions, but played 90 minutes for the first time at PSV Eindhoven in the final game of the Champions League league phase.

In recent games, his play has regained its sharpness and he has put in a performance that looks in good shape. In this match, he also set up Harvey Elliott’s second goal for the team.

The result was a surprise defeat, but he was lively on the right side of Liverpool’s top-of-the-table defence.

Interviewed after the game, the 27-year-old winger revealed that he needed to play the full match at all costs and thanked his manager and coaches for giving him the opportunity.

“I have to thank the coach, the staff, for giving me the possibility to play 90 minutes tonight,”

“For me it was great, because I need it. I needed it for everything.”

“Since I joined Liverpool I’ve wanted to prove myself. I couldn’t for many reasons and tonight, getting 90 minutes after a big while, it was great. So I have to thank the coach.”

“There’s room for improvement, there’s room to get better and better, and being at the best of my game.”

“We have a great team and it’s hard to play, but that’s normal, because I want to be here, I want to play for Liverpool, I want to challenge myself.”

“I will be ready for my next opportunity. Again, I want to thank the coach for tonight.”
