Liverpool continue to look to strengthen their midfield squad since last summer. After missing out on Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, various midfielders have been linked with the club, but no moves have been made in the winter transfer window.
However, there has been momentum to bring in new players to the midfield this summer, with the names of midfielders, mainly from Europe, making the media rounds. In some cases, the pattern has been for speculation to stand still, while in others, reports have lingered on for months.
According to CaughtOffside, Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson, who has long been rumoured as a target, is still of interest and has the upper hand in the battle, along with Arsenal and Manchester United.
Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid are also interested in the player, which could lead to fierce competition in the transfer market this summer.
The 20-year-old Swedish midfielder, who will play in the Bundesliga from the summer of 2023, has been a regular this season and is recognised as a promising young prospect in Germany, having made eight appearances for the national team despite being 20 years old.
A fee of around €60 million is expected to be demanded, a sum that is not out of Liverpool’s reach. Will the Reds really give the young Swedish talent a shot in the arm?
