Liverpool is steadily strengthening its midfielders with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. They are also eyeing midfielders with strength and height, such as Khéphren Thuram.

At the same time, they also want to pursue a generational change in the backline and are looking for a young defender who is left-handed and can play center back on the left side of the field.

Several players have been rumored, with Wolfsburg defender Mickey van de Ven at the top of the list, but there is also strong interest in Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, who was on loan at Brighton last season.

However, the club, including new coach Mauricio Pochettino, highly value the 20-year-old center back’s ability and have no intention of letting him go, who is under contract until 2025.

Evening Standard reported that Chelsea has offered the player a contract extension in order to keep him with the team beyond 2025.

He combines at a high level the elements required of a modern center back whose tasks are becoming more and more multifaceted. He is able to avoid the press with his technique and passing ability, while also providing good long feeds to the front line.

He played 17 Premier League games for Brighton last season, gaining solid experience. He is a player with extraordinary potential, and has made six appearances for the England U-21 team, and is a gem in the future England backline.

There is no way Chelsea will allow him to be sold this summer, and like Liverpool, he is unlikely to move to Manchester City, who have expressed interest. In the unlikely event that negotiations for a new contract are unsuccessful or the player declines to sign a new contract, a battle will ensue.

Will Colwill sign a contract with Chelsea, his childhood club?
