James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left Anfield this summer as their contracts expired. Additionally, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left Liverpool after being poached by the Saudis.
The club originally planned to strengthen its midfielders, but more numbers are required. After early acquisitions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool had trouble securing defensive midfielders, resulting in the addition of two more players, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.
Included in this summer period, and in the months that followed, Liverpool’s attention was focused on Brazilian midfielder Andre, who is a member of Fluminense. However, because the Copa Libertadores was in full swing, the Brazilian club was never at the negotiating table and only made contact.
According to Football Insider, Fulham, who like Liverpool had been following the Brazilian midfielder’s movements, have reached an inter-club agreement with Fluminense. It is up to the player to decide whether or not he will move to the Premier League.
The fact is that the return of Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, and others is taking longer than expected, and there are not enough defensive midfielders in the squad. On the other hand, their return would hinder the development of Vaycetić in particular.
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool is moving to strengthen its center-backs, who have been stretched thin by Joel Matip’s injury, rather than players who can play at the bottom of midfield, and it is unlikely that Liverpool will contact Fluminense from here.
