The winter transfer market is already half over and Liverpool is having a quiet window. Before the market opened, various names of defensive midfielders, right wingers, center backs, and left backs were floating around, but at this point there has been no movement at all.
Liverpool has remained static, but the possibility of acquiring a center back is not zero. According to Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, the club has been in contact with several center backs and is sharing information through their agents.
“As mentioned yesterday, Liverpool are exploring the market for potential new signings at centre-back, though it’s not something urgent or guaranteed to happen this January, as we know Liverpool generally prefer to do their business in the summer.”
“I don’t have any concrete name yet at this stage, but I was just told that Liverpool have made some calls to some centre-backs’ agents to be informed on situations – it hasn’t become a concrete negotiation as of now. It’s not easy to find top players in the January window, that’s the problem.”Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside
Liverpool pursued a left-handed center back last summer. England defender Levi Colwill, who signed a new contract with Chelsea, is said to be of continued interest, and other rumored targets include Portugal defender Goncalo Inácio.
Nevertheless, the possibilities are slim to none. However, anything can happen in the transfer market. Will Liverpool be able to bring in new talent this winter?
