Since Michael Edwards left Anfield, Liverpool has changed sporting directors in about a year with Julian Ward and Jorg Schmatke. Jurgen Klopp will also be leaving this summer, and a new team is urgently needed.

Before moving to acquire a new coach, Liverpool is searching for a new sporting director who will be in charge of reinforcements, with Tim Steidten (West Ham) and Richard Hughes (Bournemouth) among the candidates.

According to Ben Jacobs (sports journalist), Dan Ashworth, who holds the same position at Newcastle United, is Liverpool’s favorite candidate, and former Monaco SD Paul Mitchell, who was previously rumored, is not a target.

“I don’t see Liverpool returning for Ward because he’s left more recently. That’s a Manchester United candidate.”

“I don’t think Ashworth is beyond the realms of possibility because he’s liked by Liverpool.”

“I also think there’s less chance that Liverpool will come in for [Paul] Mitchell because they’ve looked at him in the past and chose not to move.”

“So, it would be surprising if they returned for him.”
