It's an honour...Tim Steidten, candidate for next Sporting Director, denies any contact with Liverpool Transfers

Former Julian Ward sporting director (SD) left Liverpool after just one year, and Jorg Schmatke took over as the next SD. Originally a short-term contract, he left the team after this winter’s transfer window, partly due to the departure of Jurgen Klopp, the country’s native manager.

Liverpool, who are looking for his replacement, have expressed interest in various directors, with Richard Hughes of Bournemouth and others being mentioned as possible candidates. Clubs with new directors are eager to build new structures.

Tim Steidten, who has been technical director at West Ham since this season, is said to be on the list, and while he said he would be honored by Liverpool’s interest, he revealed that no concrete talks have taken place at this time.

“I’ve heard that I am supposed to be on the list at Liverpool. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it’s an honour. But so far nobody from LFC has contacted me yet,”

“I generally feel very comfortable at West Ham. I quickly realised how intense this league is. Accordingly, we signed the right players in the last transfer windows. The squad is strong, so we can achieve our goals.”

“I am looking forward facing the next weeks and months until the end of the season. Of course we are already planing the next window. What happens to the future, we will see.”

Liverpool has many points to reinforce, such as generational change in the center backs and a successor to Mohamed Salah, and with a limited budget, it is necessary to bring in an excellent director to acquire players with the right abilities at the right price.

Will Liverpool be able to bring in an excellent sporting director?
