Former Liverpool goalkeeper discusses Jurgen Klopp’s replacement as he recommends Edin Terzic

Liverpool to present an offer to Bayer Leverkusen within weeks to deal with Xabi Alonso Transfers

Jurgen Klopp’s sudden announcement that he will retire at the end of the season. And now the search for his successor is in full swing. There are reports of strong interest in Xabi Alonso, the Bayer Leverkusen coach, and a fierce battle with Bayern Munich has developed.

Other young coaches such as Robert de Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann, and Reuben Amorim are also reported as possible next managers, while former England goalkeeper David James, who also played for Liverpool during his playing days, has recommended the German to lead Borussia Dortmund.

“I’ve already said that Edin Terzic, who I know personally, should be in the mix because of his Borussia Dortmund links, which is obviously similar to Jürgen Klopp,”

“The thing we have to understand with Liverpool is that Jurgen has shown how to handle the media in a way that doesn’t sensationalise anything. He’s so down to earth, honest and he doesn’t glorify anything, so the qualities he continues to display are qualities that a lot of other managers don’t have. I believe that Jürgen has a special skill.”

“For Liverpool, finding somebody who’s good with a football team is one thing, but finding someone as skilled as Jurgen with the media is another thing.”

“I believe Edin Terzić is a good option and I really like him as a person, but I’m really sure that Liverpool would have a list of three or four candidates. I know that Ange Postecoglou is a name that’s being mooted at the moment, but there could also be another potential replacement out there that nobody’s talking about.”

With coach Thomas Tuchel set to leave Bayern at the end of the season, negotiations over Xabi Alonso are accelerating. Both clubs are believed to have already made contact, and it will be interesting to see whether he chooses to step up in Germany or try his hand in the Premier League for the first time.

At this point, there is zero chance that Edin Terzic will be a candidate, but is there a future for him to overturn the primaries and take charge at Anfield…?
