AC Milan's former sporting director is under consideration as Liverpool's vacant position Transfers

Liverpool has created three sporting directors in about two years, including Michael Edwards, Julian Ward, and Jorg Schmatke. Each of them has acquired key players during their tenure, but they want someone who can take charge of the same position in the medium to long term.

In addition, with Jurgen Klopp leaving the team, the team intends to give priority to a new SD first in order to bring in a new coach. And while various candidates have been floated as possible replacements, the 55-year-old, who has a proven track record in Italy, is also being eyed.

According to Simon Hughes of the international media outlet the Athletic, Liverpool’s upper management is considering Frederic Massara, who was the sporting director at AC Milan until 2023.

The 55-year-old, who was also the head of the reinforcement department at AS Roma before moving to AC Milan, is currently a free agent. Therefore, he can begin work on Merseyside immediately, which is convenient for Liverpool, who want to settle as soon as possible.

At the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, he was instrumental in the acquisition of Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez, among others, from 2019, helping to turn the club around from its slump. He was also involved in negotiations with Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori and Sandro Tonali.

The Italian director has the ability to recognize talent in young players, but will he prove his abilities at Anfield as well?
