Munich would be more rewarding than Liverpool...Former German defender speaks out on Xabi Alonso's future Transfers

Jurgen Klopp, the man who turned Liverpool into a club strong enough to compete with the “rich club” Manchester City and brought the team the title of champions of England for the first time in 30 years, will leave Anfield at the end of this season.

Liverpool is looking to young coaches with a proven track record in Europe to fill the vacant position, and Xabi Alonso is considered to be the top candidate. He has led Bayer Leverkusen, the Warriors’ Bundesliga team, and has quickly become one of the most promising managers of the future.

However, Liverpool is not the only club looking to sign the coach. Bayern Munich, who have been given a hard time in Germany and are set to retire coach Thomas Tuchel, are also keen, but former German defender Lothar Matheus, who played for the club during his time there, insisted that he would find the job more rewarding than at Anfield.

“It’s normal that you have to be interested in Xabi Alonso,”

“If they didn’t take care of him, they would make the next mistake.”

“The task in Munich would be more rewarding than that in Liverpool to become the successor to the revered Jurgen Klopp.”

Bayern is the absolute power in Germany, both financially and in terms of name recognition, while Liverpool is firmly established in the Premier League, where investment firms and oil money from around the world enter the market. It is up to each side to decide which challenge they want, but the more exciting one is obvious.

He also spoke out against his old club’s decision to end his contract with former Borussia Dortmund coach Tuchel at the end of the season, saying that both sides had made wise decisions.

“It’s a sensible decision for both of them. This was probably the most sensible conversation that has ever taken place between the two sides.”

“There are no more excuses. Both sides can live with the decision and no one loses face. An earlier or premature separation is not ruled out by the current decision.”

“One hopes for a positive effect. If that doesn’t happen, you can always separate immediately. The team is now responsible.”
