Liverpool, whose manager Jurgen Klopp is leaving at the end of the season, is looking for a new sporting director as well as a new head coach. Among the first candidates is Xabi Alonso, who will lead Bayer Leverkusen.
The Spanish coach, who took charge of the Bundesliga club for the first time midway through last season, has had an outstanding season and has attracted the attention of many of Europe’s top clubs. In addition to Liverpool, Bayern Munich is also expected to enter negotiations.
According to Christian Falk of the German newspaper “Bild,” Leverkusen has no intention of letting go of Xabi Alonso, the top-ranked coach in the league, and is convinced that Liverpool and Bayern will not budge from their offers.
