The BBC and ITV are vying to add Jurgen Klopp as a commentator for the European Championships (EURO 2024).
However, according to Mail Sport, the Liverpool manager is expected to turn down the offer and head to the tournament in his native Germany as a fan, to the disappointment of both broadcasters.
The two major British broadcasters are eager to include Klopp in the squad for this summer’s tournament. They believe they can win the battle for viewers by appointing the charismatic Anfield boss.
Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, but both companies have stepped up their attempts to include him in their teams. Sources say that the BBC has revealed that they are more aggressive. However, both are likely to fail and may disappoint viewers.
Klopp has tickets for Germany’s three group-league matches, beginning with the season opener against Scotland in Munich on June 14. He hopes to freshen up after his nine-year stint at Liverpool.
The German manager, who has already won the Carabao Cup this season, also has his sights set on Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League glory. In the domestic league, they are in the midst of a strong race for the top spot with Manchester City and Arsenal.
He led Liverpool to their first top-flight title in 30 years and will win the Champions League in 2019. The famous general, one of the top five in the world, is said to have shown no interest and has no intention of entering the studio after being informed of the broadcaster’s interest.
The 56-year-old coach, born in Stuttgart, plans to take a year off after leaving Anfield and is apparently not eligible for media commentary. Instead, he intends to watch the games from the stands and support his home country, where he is rumored to take over from 2025.
