Liverpool keen to sign Ecuadorian defender William Pacho...but he is likely to be loaned back next season Transfers

Liverpool are looking to strengthen at centre-back in this summer’s transfer window. Continuing from last year, interest in left-footed centre-backs has been rumoured, with various defenders reported as targets, including Sporting defender Goncalo Inácio and Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

One of the latest reports to heat up is Ecuadorian defender William Pacho, who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt. BILD reported that Liverpool are keen on acquiring the 22-year-old centre-back this summer, with Arsenal and others also interested.

The report also mentioned the possibility of the player being loaned back to Frankfurt for the 2024/25 season, suggesting that his debut at Anfield will be in the 2025/26 season. He also said that the Reds are looking to conclude the deal quickly before the player’s price skyrockets.

The Ecuadorian defender, who is under contract with the club until June 2028, moved to the Bundesliga from Royal Antwerp last summer. He has coped admirably with the challenge of his first time in Germany and has started all but one game in the domestic league.

He combines the ability to handle his left foot with dexterity and is the epitome of a modern centre-back. He is a young talent who can score goals with his physicality, one-on-one strength, feeding up front and speed, and has the potential to become a world-class centre-back once he gains experience.

Will Liverpool be able to sign him early, as they always do, and bring him in as a new member of the team before other clubs approach them…?
