Barcelona are the top target for Liverpool winger Luis Diaz in this summer's transfer window Transfers

Born in Barrancas and rising through the Colombian national team, 27-year-old forward Luis Diaz joined Liverpool in the winter of 2022 after spells with Juniors FC and Porto. He maintained his condition throughout the year, scoring double-digit goals and continuing to be involved in the attack from the left wing this season.

However, his decision-making in front of goal remains a question mark. Together with Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez, his low decision-making rate in relation to the number of chances he had was a heavy burden on the team towards the end of the season and led to a slowdown in the second half of the season.

Nevertheless, he was a mainstay at Anfield and is expected to be a regular at Liverpool next season as they look to make a fresh start under a new manager, but Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest.

And Spanish clubs are particularly keen and have set the Colombian winger as their top target, reports Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

Only financially struggling Barcelona do not have the financial resources to lure the player from Liverpool. Releasing key players would be a different matter, but the club cannot afford to allow players with high transfer fee potential, such as Frenkie de Jong and Lamine Yamal, to leave the club.

Veteran players, who have become more and more active in recent years, are available on the cheap or from the lower divisions, or less expensive reinforcements are the realistic options. 27-year-old winger has a contract until June 2027 and would require a large sum of money to acquire him.

The former Porto winger has supported Barcelona since he was a child, but does he have a future in forcing a move to fulfil his own dream…?
