Liverpool, a ‘popular brand’ with big clubs keen to continue their interest in Dutch defender Jeremy Frimpong Transfers

Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga without defeat. In the highly regarded hands of coach Xabi Alonso, Dutch defender Jeremy Frimpong, who plays at right wing-back, has developed into one of the best in Europe with 14 goals and 12 assists in 46 games this season.

Reports had been circulating that Liverpool, with England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold possibly converting to midfield, were interested in the player, and now Caughtoffside has reported that interest is still ongoing.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also keen on the player, who is sure to be a mainstay of the transfer market this summer, with some of Europe’s best mega clubs also keen.

The problem is that Liverpool do not have a position where the player excels. They use attacking players like wing-backs, but as a right-back he has to return and respond well in defence. The style of the team could be similar to Trento’s, only with more emphasis on attack rather than a defender with absolute defensive strength.

Different formations and deployment methods may emerge under new manager Arne Slot, but at the moment Liverpool don’t seem to have much need to make a leap for the 23-year-old super-aggressive defender.

So which club will the Dutch side-back leave Leverkusen for…?
