Liverpool are preparing a formal offer for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins Transfers

The front three that terrorised the opposition defence and scored so many goals has been dismantled, leaving only Egyptian international Mohamed Salah. Although his decisiveness in front of goal and his ability to create chances are still there, the 32-year-old has rarely been seen passing the oncoming left-back.

Liverpool also struggled to score in the second half of the season due to the injury to Portuguese international Diogo Jota, who is one of the team’s highest decision makers. Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo were involved in the chances, but lacked accuracy at the end of the game.

In order to improve their decision-making up front as well as to find a scoring replacement for Egyptian King, Liverpool are preparing an offer for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who scored 19 Premier League goals this season, this summer, according to The Sun.

The 28-year-old striker, who joined from Brentford in 2020, is not a big man but can compete with strong centre-backs and keep the ball in play. He also leads the attack as a centre-forward and is highly accurate in shooting chances.

He also made his England debut in March 2021, scoring three goals in 11 games, and is under contract until June 2028, but with Liverpool unlikely to offer the same amount for the 28-year-old, who would previously have to pay more than £86 million.

Will Liverpool ever make contact with the Premier League’s most successful striker…?
