The bottom of Liverpool’s midfield will be dominated next season by Japan midfielder Wataru Endo and Spain U-21 midfielder Stefan Bajcetic. There is an age gap between the two, with the former 31 and the latter 19, and the possibility of seeking a midfielder in his 20s cannot be ruled out.

According to Caiciomercato, Liverpool are interested in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz and will be in a battle with Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus.

The midfielder has made 53 appearances throughout the Premier League and Conference League this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists. He helped the club to a fourth-place finish in the domestic league and was instrumental in securing a place in next season’s Champions League.

His club is expected to demand £60 million for the 26-year-old midfielder, who has also made his debut for Brazil in 2019 and has been on the pitch for 13 games, while Premier League sides such as Liverpool are expected to set a higher fee, which would be between £72 million and £77 million.

With Liverpool targeting centre-backs and attackers, it is infinitely less likely that they will be serious about acquiring a midfielder for whom a hefty transfer fee is inevitable. Budget allocations do not allow for large sums of money to be spent and it is unlikely that this report will come to fruition.

Furthermore, the players are unlikely to step up in the transfer market this summer, as they have earned the right to compete in Europe’s best competitions under Unai Emery. At the very least, he will stay at his current club next season and test himself with the team.

With Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister able to play at the bottom of midfield, and England midfielder Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to change position, there are no plans to bring even the Brazilian midfielder to Anfield.
