Liverpool are pushing forward into a new era with new manager Arne Slott. In addition to an attacker to replace Mohamed Salah, they are also looking for a centre-back to replace Virgil Van Dijk and have their eyes on a young player with international experience.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also looking to strengthen their defensive midfield and have reported interest in Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

With rumours circulating that an offer has also been made, Fabrizio Romano suggested that a move for the Brazilian midfielder could be blocked by a move for a fellow Dutch midfielder.

“We heard reports of a bid from Liverpool for Ederson, but what I’m hearing at the moment is that Atalanta have not received anything official.”

“They know that there is interest but they absolutely want to keep the player at the club.”

“Why? Because there’s potential for Atalanta to sell Teun Koopmeiners, with Juventus leading the race for the Dutch midfielder.”

“They have already advanced on personal terms with Koopmeiners, and the idea of Atalanta is to sell just one player.”

CaughtOffside

Atalanta won the Europa League this season on the back of a quarter-final victory over Liverpool. In the final, they dominated a strong Bayer Leverkusen side.

Both midfielders have been busy in midfield in those games, and strong clubs are keen to acquire them.

For Liverpool, strengthening the midfield is not a top priority, but considering the burden of Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo, they would like to bring in one more player who can compete at the same level.

Will the Brazilian midfielder, who will play for Atalanta from 2022, start a new story…?
