LOSC Lille rejects sale of Lenny Yolo: refused to accept £42 million offer from Liverpool Transfers

Liverpool, who are in the midst of a generational change from Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, who will turn 33 this July, are on the lookout for a centre-back who can carry them into the next era with the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah.

Young defenders such as Sporting defender Goncalo Inácio have been at the centre of the conversation, but recently there has been growing interest in French U-23 defender Leny Yoro, who plays for LOSC Lille and is in a battle with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool had offered £42 million for the 18-year-old centre-back, who is said to be Real Madrid’s preferred destination, but his club has rejected the offer.

It should be noted that £50 million is reportedly the minimum transfer fee, with the Reds having to pay more than the same amount. In addition, negotiations are likely to be difficult, as the player has to be persuaded to go to Spain, which is said to be his top priority.

The young French defender is under contract until June 2025, but Real Madrid are expected to wait until his contract expires before trying to acquire him, making this summer’s transfer window a last chance for Liverpool, United and PSG.

Can Liverpool seal the signing of a teenage gem with the potential to play at the top level for the next decade?
