Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, who joined Liverpool after spells at Celtic and Southampton, has made a name for himself as one of the world’s leading centre-backs since he started at Anfield.
Since last summer, he has been appointed Liverpool captain and has become a mental leader of the team. He has been wearing the captain’s mark for his country’s national team for some time and reigns as more than a defensive leader, he is an indispensable player in the team.
Brian Brobbey, a 22-year-old defender for Ajax, revealed the story behind his country’s participation in EURO 2024. He named Van Dijk as the team’s glutton and said that it is because he eats a lot that he is able to maintain a strong physicality.
“When it comes to the biggest eater in our squad, I go straight for Virgil,”
“If you see how he piles the food on the plate! He starts with an absolute mountain of salad. I also scoop my plate well full, because we train hard and need nutrients.”
“Then again, have you seen what Virgil looks like? You don’t get tall and strong overnight. Virgil is a boss.”
