Adrian is finalising his return to his old club Sevilla, contract extension offer to be rejected Transfers

Spanish goalkeeper Adrián joined Liverpool on a free transfer when his contract with West Ham United expires in 2019.

When he first joined, he was a reserve for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker, but in recent years he has supported the team from the back as a third goalkeeper and a spiritual pillar of the goalkeeping line-up.

When his contract expired in June 2024, it appeared that he would leave Anfield without leaving, but Liverpool offered him a contract extension.

However, the 37-year-old goalkeeper rejected the offer and is close to returning to Real Betis, where he had been before leaving for England, Spanish newspaper ABC Sevilla reported.

The veteran goalkeeper has been in the Premier League since 2013 and has saved many a pinch with his outstanding goal-stopping skills.

At Liverpool, he had to give up his second place to Irish goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher due to his style of play, which did not allow him to make the best jumping decisions or have the best technique with his feet.

He started his youth career at Real Betis, making 32 appearances. He then went on to defend the goalmouth in 150 games for West Ham and has also been on the pitch for Liverpool in 26 games.

The Spanish goalkeeper is likely to continue playing in his home country, but will he be able to make another flourish in familiar territory…?
