Reports of negotiations with Liverpool...Man City are in the battle for England international Anthony Gordon Transfers

Liverpool’s search for an attacker in this summer’s transfer market suddenly presented them with an opportunity to acquire England international Anthony Gordon.

In order to avoid breaching the Premier League’s ‘Profitability and Sustainability Regulations’ (PSR), Newcastle were forced to sell the player.

Key players who could be sold for a hefty transfer fee were also targeted, and negotiations with Liverpool were reported over the former Everton forward.

However, the dream of a move to Anfield was ended when a higher-than-expected asking price and the matching of traded players failed to materialise.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City have joined the battle for the England winger, who is said to have wanted a move to Liverpool, and the competition could be fierce this summer.

Liverpool are unlikely to show interest again unless Newcastle lower their asking price, but not City, who have plenty of money. Their seriousness is questionable, however, as they have a substantial squad of left wingers, including Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish.

His club is also said to be against releasing him, and it’s hard to envisage a future for the 23-year-old point-scorer, who got his big break last season, moving to a new club this summer, or is it?
