Portuguese midfielder Fabio Carvalho joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2022. In the first six months of his transfer, he started many games from the midfield, but gradually fell out of the leaders’ plans and was forced to spend last season, his second year with the club, on loan.
He struggled for playing time at RB Leipzig, where he spent the first six months of the season, and Liverpool terminated his contract with the club. In the second half of the season, he moved to Hull City, where he scored an impressive nine goals in 20 games.
The young midfielder has the potential to be one of the best in England, and it seemed that Arne Slot’s appointment would bring a change in the pecking order, but apparently not. According to Football Insider, Liverpool could accept an offer of a loan move.
All decisions will be made after the end of the tour in the USA, but at the moment there is no intention of letting the player go on a full transfer. The club are still hopeful of his hidden ability and are unlikely to go down the road of selling him.
Although he has played some games in pre-season, he has yet to make an impact. As in Jurgen Klopp’s regime, he has not been able to play in his strongest position and has not shown 100% of the talent he showed in the Championship.
The 21-year-old midfielder prefers to play in the middle of the park rather than on the flanks, and unless there is a change in system or he is used more at inside half, it looks like it could be a repeat of two years ago…?
