After losing young midfielders Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, Liverpool made an emergency reinforcement from Stuttgart last summer, adding 30-year-old Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo to the team.

Immediately after joining the club, he failed to adapt to the intensity and speed of the Premier League, and there were noticeable scenes of him losing the ball, but his game gradually improved.

In December last year, he convinced the supporters with his remarkable performance and became the mainstay of the midfield in the second half of the season.

He will start from scratch at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp’s departure and the appointment of Arne Slot as head coach.

He does not appear to be in an absolute regular position at the moment, and David Lynch (English journalist) turned down an offer from Marseille, but suggested that he may be inclined to sell if a more expensive offer arrives.

“Liverpool have turned down a €14m bid from Marseille for Wataru Endo. A number of German clubs are also interested in the midfielder and a higher offer could tempt the Reds to sell.”

As Japanese, it is only natural that we want to see them playing in the Premier League again this season.

Also, in terms of the team situation, with 19-year-old midfielder Stefan Bajcetic returning to the club, but the club is short of players who can handle the bottom of midfield, it is fair to say that if they were to get a replacement, it would be someone they would want to keep on hand.

At the moment, there are no signs of the 31-year-old national team captain leaving, but we will see how it all ends.
