Liverpool are in full swing to acquire players after their tour of the USA. After a few games in pre-season, the players have been evaluated and along with attackers and centre-backs, defensive midfielders are at the top of the list in the reinforcement policy.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported on the possibility of a new midfielder joining the club, stating a specific time frame of this week, while reporting on the fact that they are keen to acquire a player who can take charge of the bottom of midfield.
Although the only information available was that it was outside the Premier League, Fabrizio Romano, who is familiar with the transfer market, reported that Liverpool are in the market for Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi and that negotiations with the club and the player will be carried out soon.
“Liverpool are exploring move for Martin Zubimendi as new midfielder, as there’s €60m release clause into his contract.”
“Talks will follow between clubs and on player side.”

Under new coach Arne Slot, Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo, a ball-hunter type of player who tries to steal the ball from the opposition, has lost his reputation and was often introduced in the second half of pre-season.
He has fallen down the pecking order in the team, with Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch, in addition to last season’s regulars, also falling behind.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who has made 188 appearances for Real Sociedad in total, is the type of player who can build attacks from the bottom of midfield with his excellent passing sense, and is coach Slott’s favourite player.
He played four matches for Spain at EURO 2024 this summer, helping them to victory in the tournament.
He also experienced the Champions League last season with the Spanish club, where Japanese midfielder Takefusa Kubo is also a member.
