Liverpool, in search of a technical defensive midfielder, are actively working to acquire Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi.
Discussions are being held to persuade the player and it is reported that a release clause could be triggered.
While there have been prominent reports that the Spanish midfielder wants to play at Anfield, German Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg also claimed that the player is keen on a move to Liverpool, and that his good relationship with his agency is also a boost.
“Liverpool are pushing to sign Martin Zubimendi with ongoing talks.”
“25 y/o midfielder is keen to join Liverpool with immediate effect. His agency „Idub Global“ with best connections to Liverpool as they are also managing Xavi Alonso.”
“It’s unclear whether Liverpool has to pay the €60m release clause or whether free negotiations are possible.”

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad also have no intention of letting him go easily and have urged the 25-year-old midfielder to stay.
Imanol Alguacil, who gave the player his first-team debut, has been directly involved in persuading him to stay, and has held a number of discussions with him, mentioning the change of environment off the pitch and to make him feel inclined to stay.
Although it is difficult to be immediately happy until an official announcement is made, an increasing number of media and journalists in recent days have been convinced that he will go to Liverpool, increasing the possibility that he will be the first reinforcement in the Arne Slot regime, but who knows…?
