Liverpool’s 19-year-old midfielder James McConnell made his first-team debut in the Europa League against Toulouse last season. He was expected to be a gem of Anfield’s future, with appearances in the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.

However, the role demanded of the defensive midfielder has changed under new manager Arne Slot. Liverpool are in the market for new Spanish midfielder Martín Zubimendi, and even midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who is the same age, has been linked with a loan move.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are preparing to loan out the former Sunderland midfielder to gain first-team experience. Several English clubs have expressed interest in the player, with a move away from Anfield imminent.

Calvin Ramsay and Luke Chambers have been confirmed on loan to Wigan Athletic. Lewis Koumas has also agreed to join Stoke City on a year’s loan, while Ben Doak, Tyler Morton and Bobby Clark are also likely to leave.

Will the young midfielder also move on this summer in search of regular treatment…?
