Higher offer than PSG, but it's already too late...Liverpool were defeated in the William Pacho race Transfers

After targeting England defender Levi Colwill, who signed a long-term deal with Chelsea last season, Liverpool continued their search for a left-footed centre-back in this summer’s transfer window, with various players being mentioned in the media as candidates.

Along with Sporting defender Goncalo Inácio and Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, the name of Ecuadorian defender William Pacho, then at Eintracht Frankfurt, was frequently reported.

Fabrizio Romano also reported interest from Liverpool and was more credible than the other candidates. However, the 22-year-old centre-back has decided to go to Paris Saint-Germain and will play in Ligue 1 this season.

According to Le10sport, Liverpool tried to hijack the player’s contract and made an offer higher than PSG’s after the two clubs had already agreed. By then, however, it was too late and Frankfurt had made it clear to the French club that they were willing to sell.

As a result, the Bundesliga club turned down Liverpool’s offer and reached a final agreement with Paris Saint-Germain. Along with a transfer fee of approximately €40 million, the Ecuadorian defender made the move to France.

Liverpool have missed out on every serious target in defensive midfield and centre-back, including Colwill, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Martin Zubimendi.

They got back on track last season by securing Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo, but will they be able to strengthen their squad this summer by bringing in another target before the transfer deadline closes…?
