After failing to land Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Liverpool had increased their interest in new attackers and centre-backs before the summer started, and could be the first reinforcement in a position they did not expect.
Liverpool have been following the progress of Valencia’s Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, with reports suggesting that the player’s agent is in Spain to begin talks with Valencia over a move.
According to Radio Marca Valencia, transfer talks are accelerating and Valencia have rejected the first offer, although they preface it by saying that it is an unofficial offer. And the Spanish club is said to be looking to raise the amount.
“MAMARDASHVILI
Valencia have said NO to the numbers put forward by LIVERPOOL
From the club they think that the English club will raise the offer
It is NOT a formal offer, but there has been talk of concrete numbers.”

Liverpool do not intend to keep the Georgia international defender at the club this summer, even if they acquire him, and will release him on a loan move.
The plan is to survive this season with Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, but a total reshuffle is expected next summer.
So will Liverpool succeed in reinforcing the position for the first time this summer, even though it is not a high priority position…?
