Still exploring several options...Italian journalist reveals Liverpool's future reinforcement plan Team

After giving manager Arne Slot time to assess players throughout pre-season, Liverpool made no moves in the July transfer window, and when the action really got underway in August, negotiations for Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi were unsuccessful.

Although they came close to acquiring Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, the move will not be a reinforcement this summer as it will become official next summer.

Many have criticised the ownership team, as Liverpool have yet to welcome anyone into the team while other Premier League clubs have been acquiring players.

Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the transfer market, touched on Liverpool’s reinforcement plans and revealed that they had originally planned to acquire a defender.

He also reported that they were exploring several options with the end of August deadline looming on the horizon.

“It was widely reported earlier in the summer that a young defender would also be on the agenda for Liverpool, but so far we haven’t seen anyone come in,”

“What I can say is that Liverpool are still exploring several options on the market.”

“They will just not sign for the sake of it, but if they find right opportunity. They keep working on ideas and options, for sure.”

Far from closing the gap with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, the gap is only widening in terms of reinforcements alone.Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also made major reinforcements, while Aston Villa have started to steadily build their squad.

With the average age of players from Jurgen Klopp’s era increasing, Liverpool need to find their successors, but will they be able to make the right additions in the short time remaining?
