Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker has saved the team since joining in 2018, stopping numerous shots at the back end of the field at Anfield.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who has also helped win the Champions League and Premier League, will start the season under the guidance of Arne Slot.
The Dutchman, who prefers a more possession-oriented style of football than under Jurgen Klopp, has made changes to the midfield structure and style of play. In the opening game against Ipswich Town, he also incorporated his previous style of fast, vertical football.
The 45-year-old commander is also focusing on clean sheets amidst the change in style of play. The Brazilian goalkeeper hopes to increase the number of goalless matches in a changing Liverpool, a message the new head coach has told him.
“This is a clear message from the manager. He wants us to get more clean sheets.”
“He understands the importance of getting clean sheets, of having a team that can defend really well, being solid, being compact, being consistent. This is going to carry us through the season and will win us games as well.”
“We know the offensive quality that we have. So if we can defend the same way as we attack, if we can be that good, it will be really good for us this season to achieve our goals.”

The German coach’s forward-pressure football has meant that the vast space between the final line and the goalkeeper has often been exploited, and many games have seen unnecessary goals conceded from this space.
The team is still being built up, but can Slot’s ideals be realised sooner rather than later, with more games finishing without conceding a goal and ending the season as the highest-ranked side in the Premier League?
