Dominik Szoboszlai, a 23-year-old midfielder who played for Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig, made the move to Liverpool last summer. Throughout all competitions last season, he made 45 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

He was outstanding in the early stages of the season and was compared to Steven Gerrard, but as the season progressed, tiredness prevented him from making the same impact as in the first half, and it was a year of learning in terms of condition management.

The Hungarian attacking midfielder has changed his position in midfield at Liverpool under newly appointed manager Arne Slot, and his father, Jolt Szoboszlai, revealed that he chose Anfield despite interest from Italy and other English teams.

“He built up in stages, from Salzburg to Leipzig to Liverpool,”

“We talked about the move to England together. There was an Italian team and another English team.”

“But we decided on Liverpool — a club with great history and tradition, who could keep Dominik heading in the right direction. He can achieve whatever he wants to achieve.”
