Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is second-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool to the dominating presence of Brazilian international Alisson Becker.
His stability in games is not that of a reserve goalkeeper and he is good enough to be a regular in the Premier League.
Last season, he played 26 games in goal due to a prolonged injury to Alisson.
In recent years, rumours of an Anfield exit have circulated whenever the transfer window opened, with Nottingham Forest presenting an offer but failing to meet Liverpool’s asking price, and he will remain at Liverpool for the rest of the season.
Other mid-table to Premier League promotion sides in England have expressed interest, but Graeme Bailey, a reporter, expressed the feelings of the 25-year-old goalkeeper, who has been left in the cold.
He surmised that the goalkeeper is feeling frustrated now that interest from several clubs has failed to move on.
“I don’t really think it was about value with him, they got to the point where they couldn’t let him go,”
“I understand the player himself isn’t too happy.”
“There was a lot of goalkeeper movement as we saw. Southampton, Wolves, Bournemouth, this might have been his big chance and Kelleher was interested in all of those teams.”
“So, I think he’s very frustrated,”
“But he’s under contract and it is what it is.”
