‘He has to get used to the club and his teammates’, Arne Slot expects from Federico Chiesa Team

Italian international Federico Chiesa joined Liverpool from Juventus this summer. He did not have a satisfactory pre-season in Serie A as he was not included in the new coach’s plans, and immediately after his transfer he trained hard to regain his conditioning.

He made his Liverpool debut in the Champions League against AC Milan and also made his Premier League debut against Bournemouth. He gradually increased his playing time and started in the third round of the Carabao Cup against West Ham United.

Manager Arne Slot revealed that he was pleased to see the Italian winger, who assisted the equaliser in the game, getting more playing time, although he did not intend to, but also said he had to adapt to the club, his teammates and the style of play.

“It was pleasing to see that he could already play 60 minutes, because he hasn’t played a lot,”

“He has hardly played any minutes in the last three or four months. So for him it is important to get more match minutes, and that’s what he got today.”

“He assisted, although it was a shot on target that was promoted by Diogo to a goal. He worked really hard. I think it’s normal that he’s not already in the top of his ability.”

“He has to get used to the club, he has to get used to his team-mates, he has to adjust to the playing style.”

“It was very good to see how match-fit he already is, so that we can use him if we need him.”
