Trent Alexander-Arnold's potential replacement...Liverpool eyeing RB Salzburg's 22-year-old defender Amar Dedic Transfers

Liverpool are doing everything in their power to sign defensive stalwart Trent Alexander-Arnold on a new deal. His contract expires at the end of the season, but talks are ongoing to extend it.

However, there is no sign of progress in those negotiations.

Should contract negotiations stall, the situation remains unpredictable for Liverpool, with Real Madrid on the hunt for a successor to Spanish defender Daniel Carvajal and looking to land him on a free transfer next summer.

To prepare for the worst case scenario, Liverpool have a list of young European side-backs, and while a number of players have made the media rounds, a new player has emerged from Austrian side RB Salzburg.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are interested in signing Amar Dedic. Merseyside club officials, who are looking for an ideal replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, are likely to take note of the young side-back’s consistent performances.

The right-back joined his current club from FC Lieffering in the summer of 2020, and after a loan spell at Wolfsberger AC, he became a regular in the 2022/23 season. He has played close to 100 games so far, scoring eight goals and assisting 13 in attack.

He also made his debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in March 2022 and has been on the pitch for 15 games. He has continued to be a starter in Pepijn Lijnders’ newly appointed team and can also play at left-back.

Rather than using long passes to break the deadlock like the England defender, he moves himself up front and into the penalty area. Will the 22-year-old defender, who never misses an up-and-down movement during a game, get his first taste of the Premier League next season…?
