Under the new helm of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s scouting group is committed to identifying players’ capabilities in positions where reinforcements may be needed within the next 12 months.
Egypt international Mohamed Salah is currently out of contract at the end of the season, along with Filsil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. There is still a future for a new contract, but another long-term successor is being sought in case things go wrong.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are keen on Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo and Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo, with scouting ongoing.
Like Egyptian King, the left-handed right winger has scored a number of goals in outstanding combination with England international Ivan Toney, who went to Saudi Arabia this summer. He has continued his form this season after Toney’s departure and has shown a high scoring rate with eight goals in nine Premier League games.
The Ghanaian winger, who is gaining a growing reputation at Bournemouth, is a right- handed player, unlike Mbeumo. Despite his different characteristics, he can play on either wing and is better at creating chances from the flanks than scoring goals.
As for Semenyo, Richard Hughes acquired him from Bristol City during his time at Bournemouth, which may be an advantage as he is familiar with the 24-year-old attacker’s character and ability.
Like Salah, Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, who plays for Egypt, has been involved in a number of goals since last season and has developed a reputation in the Bundesliga, with continued interest reported from the transfer market this summer.
Various other attackers’ names are also making the media rounds, and it is hard to say who is at the top of the list.
Will Liverpool bring a new winger to Anfield in the transfer market this winter or next summer, regardless of the 32-year-old winger’s departure…?
