Egypt international Mohamed Salah has not renewed his contract, which expires at the end of the season, and is now a veteran at 32 years of age, which has pushed Liverpool to look for a long-term successor.
Even now that they have added Italian international Federico Chiesa, interest in new attackers continues to grow.
Liverpool’s reinforcement policy is mentioned by reporter Graeme Bailey. He mentioned the possibility of acquiring Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, although he said that no progress has been made on the transfer, although he is looking at Frankfurt winger Omar Marmoush.
“Liverpool have looked at him [Marmoush], clearly he’s on fire this season with Frankfurt but I don’t think it’s as far along as some are claiming,”
“I’ve heard some people say it’s virtually a done deal, I don’t think that’s the case at all. Liverpool have got a lot of irons in the fire when it comes to that right side, I think Marmoush is someone they’ve looked at but I’d be reticent to say he’s their first choice.”
“When you’ve got the likes of possibly Kvaratskhelia on the market, let’s not forget that Liverpool have just brought in the second best Georgian player. Liverpool are all over Kvaratskhelia, they know about the situation, there might be a chance of getting him next summer.”
Rousing the Kop
The 25-year-old Egyptian striker, whose scoring threat increased last season, has led the attack this season with 12 goals and nine assists in 14 games. He has quickly become a talent of interest to mega clubs, and rumours of a move to Liverpool were circulating this summer.
Meanwhile, the Georgia international, who plays for Napoli, has also established himself in Italy and has made a name for himself as one of Serie A’s leading wingers. He continues to lead the way up front for Georgia and has shown his attacking prowess with 17 goals in 38 games.
Although all of these players are perfect assets, they have different characteristics. There are also a number of other targets on the list, and it remains to be seen who Liverpool will whitewash.
