Real Madrid are targeting Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer next year. The English defender is yet to renew his contract at Anfield, leaving him with the option to move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the 2024/25 season.
According to Give Me Sport, it is not only the English right-back that the Spanish capital club are interested in, but also Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
It also mentions the background to the Dutch midfielder, with French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who joined the club after a battle with Liverpool, not performing as well as expected and is being eyed as a defensive midfielder to replace him.
The 22-year-old tall midfielder, who has developed his talents under new manager Arne Slott and is now an integral part of Liverpool’s midfield, has no future away from Merseyside and will not be let go no matter what the transfer fee is.
The young midfielder has become such a key player, but he has started to tire recently and there is an urgent need to find a midfielder who can compete with him. Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo, who is adapting to slot football, has yet to win the trust of the club and they will be looking hard for a new midfielder this winter.
For the Gravenberch, with only half a season to go, their priority is to perform well throughout the year and continue to do so, and we would like to believe that a trip to Spain will not cross their minds.
I don’t think Real Madrid will take any concrete action, but it is possible that they have a player on their list only because he has continued to perform so well, but I can’t imagine a future where he leaves Anfield within a few years…
