‘Not even got to that stage yet ’ Liverpool legend eager to extend Mohamed Salah's contract Team

Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, who has scored a number of goals to lead his team to victory at Anfield, is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool.

He can negotiate with other clubs next year without the club’s permission and if he stays, he will leave the club in the summer of 2025 without a transfer fee.

Liverpool want to extend his contract and the player wants to stay, but good news of an extension has not yet been forthcoming, as they have not been able to agree on detailed terms.

Many supporters say he should be allowed to stay, no matter how much he is paid, as he is an irreplaceable player for them.

Club legend Ian Rush, who scored a total of 339 goals and 110 assists for Liverpool during his time at the club, touched on the departure of the modern-day goal machine and, referring to his own career, was frank about his desire to sign a new contract.

“I’d love him to extend his contract. We don’t know what will happen but I’m sure every Liverpool supporter would love that as well.”

“I left because I wasn’t playing regularly. I just wanted to play football. I didn’t want to sit on the bench and that’s what you’ve got to look at. I left here to go to Leeds United because I wanted to be playing week in, week out.”

“I looked at [Robbie] Fowler and [Stan] Collymore, they were doing really well together, and I didn’t want to be sitting on the bench. I was enjoying my football and that’s the reason why I went to Leeds.”

“But that was my situation, it depends if you are happy sitting on the bench or not. But Mo’s not even got to that stage yet so no, there’s not really any reason for him to go yet.”
