Born in his hometown of Liverpool, 23-year-old midfielder Curtis Jones has been a first-team player since his teenage years as a native of the city. He has gained new growth under new manager Arne Slot and also made his debut for England in November 2024.
This season, he has continued to contribute to the team’s victories in midfield alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, with three goals and four assists in 21 games so far.
In one match against Leicester City at Anfield, he reached a major milestone when he reached 100 Premier League appearances.
The academy-born midfielder, who has had a successful career, revealed that he received a message from former manager Jurgen Klopp congratulating him on his 100 appearances, saying he was a great man who cared then and still does.
“I came in then and normally text family, and I saw a text off Klopp saying ‘congratulations on 100 games, and here’s to 500. I was like, what is he on about?’ I just checked then, and I am proud. It was him who set up the team we have now,”
“He’s been texting me loads since he has been gone. He is texting me all the time. That’s what he is like with all the lads.”
“He is the man who made me from a kid to a man. There were always talks around me, “Is he good enough? He is always injured.”
“There is a reason why I am here now still. That’s because of him and the belief he had in me.”
“I’m not saying I am a star now, but I am doing the right thing. I am scoring goals and playing every week.”
“The quality I have got, I can always help the team. I am grateful to him and his staff. It puts a smile on my face.”
“I said I hope you’re enjoying Christmas; he said ‘yeah, I am’. It’s nice. He is always there with us.”
“He is a great man.”
